Our Story

Shop EcoTribe was born after our founder, Fiona, watched a YouTube video revealing the devastating textile waste piling up in Nairobi. As a fashion lover, this discovery was shocking and heartbreaking. She could no longer ignore the consequences of overconsumption and irresponsible production, right here in Kenya. That moment sparked a fire in her to do better for Kenya and through Kenya. What began as a pull to be more conscious in her personal life has since evolved into Shop EcoTribe — a gifting and marketplace initiative that supports sustainable, ethical, and Made-in-Kenya brands.

We're here to support the incredible Kenyan brands doing business the right way and grow our local industry.

We also believe that business can be a force for good. That’s why we started the "Gift for School" Fund — a growing initiative that uses proceeds from Shop EcoTribe to educate bright students from less fortunate backgrounds.

Education is a cause that’s deeply personal to me. I was raised and educated by my extended family — my grandmother through high school and my uncle through university. I had people who believed in me and made sacrifices for my future. I graduated top of my class and went on to earn a First Class Honors degree in Computer Science. And I’ve seen first-hand what quality education can do — not just for the mind, but for a person’s values, confidence, and future. It gives dignity. It opens doors. It shapes how you show up in the world. Sadly, not everyone has that kind of opportunity and support. That’s why we started the Gift for School Fund — a project that uses proceeds from our business to educate students from less fortunate backgrounds. We believe it’s a hand extended — from someone who has lived it, to someone who needs it. It’s a seed of hope, sown with love and watered by opportunity. Because when you educate a child, you don’t just change their story — you change generations!
